We lead the Government's relationship with the tertiary education sector in New Zealand and provide career services from education to employment.

The purpose of this role is the development and support of TEC's core data collection systems.

The role involves developing software iteratively with the Business Owner, Product Owner, and various business and technical teams across TEC.

We are currently recruiting for an intermediate or senior level position. This will dependable on your level of experience.

About the Role


Reporting to the Team Leader - Data Collection Systems this role will be responsible for developing software iteratively with the Business Owner, Product Owner, and various business and technical teams across TEC.


  • Working within an agile environment to develop TEC's core data collection systems
  • Maintain and support the core data collection systems and make enhancements according to project specifications
  • Working with the business and product owners to understand new functionality and bringing good analytical and problemsolving abilities to the table
  • Code reviews as part of the software development lifecycle
  • Providing good written and oral communications skills including the ability to speak, write and explain technical information to nontechnical people
  • Ability to coach and mentor intermediate level Developers

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is an existing Senior-level Developer or someone who has some solid experience as an intermediate-level Developer and and looking to step into an senior role to continue to developer their skills and to coach and mentor members of the team.


You will being the following:
Technical skills - minimum of 4-5+ years' experience for senior-level role

  • Solid experience in.
Net Core / ASP.NET Core

  • Solid experience JavaScript / Angular
  • REST API principles & patterns
  • Experience or understanding of Cosmos DB and Azure platforms
  • Solid experience T-SQL
  • Solid experience DevOps (CI/CD)
  • Experience in cloud computing infrastructure as code (Terraform)
  • Cloud PaaS services, especially Azure
