The exciting new role includes spatial analysis as well as supporting project management across the section. Key projects will be related to new and emerging geospatial technologies.

Tasks include:

  • Support the spatial analysis and modelling team in design and performing spatial analysis and modelling
  • Provide project management support for the Geospatial Emerging Technology proof of concept projects undertaking a role as key point of contact
  • Provide reporting to the Emerging Technology governance group
  • Provide cost benefit analysis for the assessed technology solutions
  • Collaborate with vendors and partner agencies to find out a range of potential geospatial new and emerging technology solutions

If you have these skills, this is the role for you

  • At least 5 years' experience in spatial analysis and modelling skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of GIS Software, especially within the ArcGIS products suite operating in a SQL Server Spatial environment
  • Existing project management skills and experience
  • When communicating, you show excellent skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to quickly learn how to operate technology solutions to be able to undertake cursory testing of their appropriateness without always relying on a third party
  • Strategic and tactical thinking skills

Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience

  • Relevant degree level qualification (desirably in GIS, geography, computer science or information technology)
  • At least 5 years' experience in GIS analyst or similar roles
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of GIS Software, particularly with respect to (but not limited to) ArcGIS products operating in a SQL Server Spatial environment
  • Project management and reporting experience
  • Proven success at building relationships
