At He Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens, we have over 108 kindergartens across the regions we serve, bringing learning, connection, and fun to families across Whanganui, Central Plateau, Horowhenua, Kapiti, Porirua, Greater Wellington, Upper Hutt and Wairarapa.

We also provide a home-based service - Etu Ao in Porirua and Levin.


Our vision for He Whānau Manaaki is derived from our belief in the importance of quality early childhood education for the children themselves, their whānau, their community and for Aotearoa New Zealand.

Therefore, we seek to be a leader in the provision of high-quality early childhood education, and by demonstrating what can be achieved, be seen as advocates for children and whānau and help to improve quality early childhood education throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.

More than 6,000 children now attend one of Whānau Manaaki's 108 kindergartens and Pasifika-focused Etu Ao homebased service.

Community description
Toru Fetu kindergarten is a purpose-built Pacific Kindergarten situated on the grounds of Maraeroa School in Cannons Creek, Porirua.


The focus of this Kindergarten since conception has always been to provide quality Early Childhood Education in the Cook Island, Tuvaluan, and Niuean cultures.

For this reason, the children and families who access our service do so because their aspirations for their child/ren is to be immersed in a quality ECE service that nurtures Pacific languages and culture.

We are licenced for 80 children who attend between 6 and 9 hours a day. You will join our team of 23 staff.

We are looking for an enthusiastic ECE kaiako who:

  • values collaborative work with the teaching team and actively engages with whānau in a meaningful relationship.
- demonstrates an openness and dedication to learning and using Pacific Languages and culture into teaching practices.
- is responsive to implementing practices that enhance the social and emotional competence of Tamariki while fostering inclusive environments.
- displays a passion for teaching in diverse, mixed-age setting catering to children aged 6 months to 5 years old within a Whānau-oriented learning environment.
