The East Adult Community Psychiatric Service has an
exciting opportunity for a registered nurse with mental health experience to
join their community team. East Sector provides an assessment and treatment
service for tāngata whaiora (consumers)
experiencing mental illnesses and works closely with their whānau (family) - both in the community and alongside
inpatient services.

As a professional and highly motivated nurse, who
displays a positive attitude and enthusiasm for this area of work, you will
enjoy being part of a committed and diverse multi-disciplinary team, you will
work in collaboration with a group of professionals that recognises the
importance of providing quality care and services to their patients, friends
and whānau. Interacting with a variety of stakeholders, you
will have an ability to effectively manage and prioritise a caseload in this
case management position.

  • Visit tāngata whaiora in the
community, where you will complete home visits or see them in NGO
supported residential services or support them on the ward as they
transition from inpatient to outpatient care.

  • Refer and support your tāngata whaiora to engage
with community services and resources and assist them in developing and
progressing along individual tailored treatment plans.

  • Support and assist those in your care with their treatment and
medication regimes.

  • Complete assessments alongside psychiatrists and draw on the
knowledge from the variety of different professional backgrounds in your
team to provide the best possible holistic care.

  • Respond to crises when they occur this involves conducting risk
assessments, connecting with whānau,
coordinating logistics, and working with your team to ensure the most
appropriate intervention for your tāngata whaiora.

In order to be successful in this role, the following is required:

  • Registered with the Nursing Council of New
Zealand with a current APC and mental health scope

  • 2+ years experience working within any area of
mental health

  • Have a full New Zealand driver s license
  • Knowledge of and a commitment to Te Tiriti o
Waitangi

  • Previous experience in an acute mental health
setting

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship
building

  • Thrives in a fastpaced environment in a varied
