Our team at Mary Crescent is seeking qualified and experienced Team leader to join us in making a meaningful difference to the lives of our tamariki.

The team at Mary Crescent aim to increase resilience and wellbeing of tamariki and rangatahi through care provisions that will promote whānau and community inclusion.

We will work closely with iwi to ensure the best services and supports are available, to achieve the vision of better outcomes for tamariki and rangatahi in our care.

We need advocates that are empathetic to the needs of tamariki and rangatahi that will promote and utilise key services within health, education and social services.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

As the Team Leader Supervised Group Home, you will take leadership of care programmes, interventions and day to day activities involving individuals living at Mary Crescent.

Supported and informed by the Whānau Engagement Worker you will lead Oranga Tamariki site staff, service provider professionals, such as counsellors, health and education workers and members of the community, to provide care services that meet the needs of young people with difficult personal challenges and behaviour difficulties.

This will require you to build an aroha filled environment where young people have the ability to gain aspirations of growth and development and renew their own beliefs of what they can achieve in their lives.

This includes supporting day to day challenges such as school, therapy and general in-home routine.
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

  • Proven and successful leadership experience including leading people toward improved performance.
  • Successful management of risk in critical situations.
  • Proven experience in supporting staff in complex and sometimes difficult situations.
  • A sound knowledge of Care Standards and the Oranga Tamariki Act.
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, multicultural matters including knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture.
  • Ability to engage and address behavioural challenges and an understanding of trauma impacts.
  • Knowledge of and ability to quickly grow community networks, and experience working in collaboration with a variety of stakeholders.
Nōu te rourou | What's in it for you
Oranga Tamariki offer an impartial remuneration, that offers progression annually for experience through tenure. Total starting remuneration for this role is 103,000 made from annual salary and work-based allowances.
