Te āhuatunga a te tūranga/About the Role

The Finance Business Partner is responsible for providing direction and leadership in the financial planning and management of the agency's strategies, and is responsible for driving sound strategic financial decision making.

You will also be the key relationship and coordination point between the business and the overall Finance group.
You will work closely with the Management Accountants to facilitate seamless support to Te Arawhiti.

You will also be required to mentor and coach them to develop talent and build the capability to deliver outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong analytical, strategic and planning skills as well as being commercially savvy
  • Able to build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships and effective networks across and within organisations
  • Experience in analysing technical issues and making business decisions with financial impact
  • Experience in building financial capability within the business
  • Strong communicator both written and verbal
  • Experience in management reporting within large complex and diverse organisations
  • Strong working knowledge of Government Financial Management legislation, policies and practices
  • Experience in a similar role and environment would be advantageous
  • A commitment to building Māori capability both personally and within your team
  • Full CA (or equivalent) preferred

The Finance Business Partners are split across two teams and support a range of portfolio's including Operations and Service Delivery, Te Arawhiti (Maori Crown Relations), Policy, Sector and Corporate functions that help the Ministry to operate smoothly.

The team are embedded within the business unit's they support, providing a key relationship and coordination point between the business and the overall Finance group.

The expectation is Business Partners will periodically rotate portfolio's to build a broader understanding of the Ministry.

The appointing salary for this role will be between $100,221 and $130,876 based on skills and experience.
