How you'll make an impact


As the Finance Business Partner you will play a pivotal role in providing expertise and insight to deliver leading financial planning and analysis across the Business Services portfolio and teams.

Reporting into, and working closely with the GM Finance Business Services you will help to bolster business acumen and build critical and commercial thinking into decision making across the portfolio.


Building strong relationships with the EGMs and GMs throughout the portfolio, you will become a trusted advisor, able to steer decision making and drive efficient growth.

You will be the GM Finance's right hand in helping to manage the forecasting, budgeting, reporting and performance management for the portfolio, leveraging your thorough understanding of business requirements and communicating analysis and projection of information to many different levels and people throughout the business.

You will support business critical strategic workforce planning and analysis, integral to ensure resources and investment are focused in the right areas to drive outcomes across Xero.


What you'll do

  • Partner with EGMs and GMs, enabling faster and better decision making and performance, consistent with the strategy of both the portfolio and Xero
  • Support the GM Finance in driving leadership teams to make decisions through modeling, analysis, inquiry, challenge, generating options and providing advice on the financial implications and consequences of business decisions
  • Develop, review and refine financial models to support current and proposed investment, maintaining inputs and assumptions, providing insight and recommendations
  • Generate insights to recommend and advise the business on how best to improve operations, optimize performance, and adapt to changing business conditions
  • Lead the finance component of planning, reporting and forecasting for the portfolio, translating strategy into financial targets and tactical plans
  • Supply and implement best practice management reporting and modeling, providing strategic insight on the content of reports and performance evaluation for key metrics
  • Support strategic, enterprise wide workforce planning and analysis, working closely with the Product & Technology finance teams to improve forecasting and modeling of FTEs to achieve forecast accuracy and inform effective and efficient release of capital for outcomes across all of Xero
  • Support the provision of advice and recommendations that drive the implementation of business critical people and resourcing initiatives, including Xero's overall remuneration strategy. Ensure quality analysis and advice that supports the achievement of Xero's financial, strategic and growth targets etc

What you'll bring with you:

  • 5+ years of progressive financial experience within a commercial finance / FP&A team
  • Qualified accountant (CA, CPA etc.)
  • Experience within a Consulting or Accounting firm and / or a SaaS company is highly desirable
  • Experience with financial systems such as NetSuite, business intelligence tools and corporate performance management software
  • Strong business planning, budgeting / forecasting abilities
  • Strong data manipulation. You are in your element when you are leveraging your analytical and commercial modeling skills to build complex excel models
  • Highly effective communicator and influencer. You can quickly shift from technical analysis to building presentations with effective narratives (i.e you have built presentations for senior audiences)
  • Comfort with navigating ambiguity. You thrive in being a frontier and are comfortable with owning the route to an outcome
  • Ability to hold budget holders to account to deliver on financial commitments
  • Strong commercial acumen. You are able to synthesize and distill information to shine a light on the activity, decisions and outcomes that really matter
