Mō te tūnga | About the role


In this role you will be supporting six tāngata; five older females from different backgrounds who require a range of support for their individual needs and one male tāngata with dual sensory loss.

Most of these tāngata are permanent wheelchair users.

You will be supporting with every day needs such as bathing, food preparation, administering medication and a variety of other duties which enable an independent and great quality of life.


It's important to understand this is a whare/home environment for our tāngata so the more you can do to make it feel like a home the better.


You will be joining a fun, supportive and professional team of support workers who make a significant impact on the quality of life for our tāngata.

We work to a rotating 24/07 roster, typically the shifts are:

  • 7am-3pm.
  • 3pm11pm.
  • 11pm7am (sleep over includes an additional allowance);
  • 1pm9pm.
We are ideally seeking applicants who can work between 32 and 80 hours a fortnight.


We will train you and you will start to achieve your Level 2 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing as part of your Induction.


With on-the-job training and our ongoing support, you will achieve Level 3 and Level 4, which increases your rate of pay.

We offer a comprehensive curriculum of industry compliance training and personal/professional development opportunities. Any training that you need to work in this whare will be provided.

You may not have previous experience, but you enjoy supporting those around you in your own life, you are the 'go to' support person and you are naturally drawn to helping others.


You may have significant life experience which includes caring for a loved one; you may be tired of manual labour and looking for something more fulfilling; you may be retired with time to spare, or you may now be able to work around other whanau commitments.

You may even be studying and just starting out in your career.

Your skills will include:

  • Working with diversity.
  • Great communications skills.
  • The ability to set goals and work towards them.
  • Basic level of computer skills.
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy.
A reasonably good level of physical fitness is required as is a full NZ driver license.
