Our vision is to transform inpatient dispensary at Counties Manukau District into a cutting edge, innovative, creative, agile and human-centered service.

As one of the largest tertiary teaching hospitals in New Zealand, work as a pharmacy technician in our IPD team offers a variety of tasks and responsibilities.

For this, confidence in your own ability and the ability to work independently are essential.

Daily duties include dispensing medicines to named patients and replenishing ward stocks through automated Medistations (Pyxis) or Imprest.

Working with advanced technology that offers a new and systematic way of supply resulting in improved patient safety and efficient dispensary service.

Once trained and appropriately experienced, technicians have the opportunity to work in areas associated with a high level of responsibility such as pharmaceutical compounding, cytotoxic training, Home IVs, procurement and other specialist roles within medicines supply.

The role will be well supported by the dispensary team. You will also work closely with clinical pharmacists and ward staff. Previous hospital experience is not necessary but preferred. We provide an environment where innovative new ideas and methods of working are encouraged.
