We are looking for an experienced
New Zealand Registered
Social Worker with proven clinical competence to work within our
Women's Health Social Work Team at
Auckland
City Hospital.

This role would you see you working in a
full-time,
permanent position (40 hours/week), Monday to Friday.

  • This role will involve a strong ability to advocate wahine ora through the maternity journey. As kaitakawaenga you will support the meaningful engagement of wahine and wh
- nau Māori with maternity and community services.

  • You will manage a caseload of resilient wahine hapū, many of whom will be navigating challenges including those related to the ongoing impacts of colonisation.
  • You will work closely alongside Te Manawa o Hine, Auckland DHB Māori Midwifery team and the wider midwifery team. Valuing relationships and maintaining strong networks with iwi and other partners will be essential to your success in this role.
  • A passion for helping to create a safe space for tangata whenua within the women's health context is welcomed. You will have the opportunity to strengthen the model of care and also influence the wider Health Social Work team in supporting best practice around improving health outcomes for whānau Māori.


You will be provided with regular supervision and continuing professional development to enhance your capacity to engage in effective social work practice.

You will receive routine and regular support from your Practice Supervisor, Clinical Leader, Professional Leader as well as the Advanced Clinician.


Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

  • Current registration with the New Zealand Social Workers' Registration Board and a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Strong cultural knowledge; capacity to work effectively alongside Māori
  • Full, clean class 1 NZ Drivers' licence
  • Able to navigate complex dynamics as you hold the needs and best interests of the patient and whānau in view
  • Excellent psychosocial assessment skills, the ability to think critically and develop patient centred interventions and strong advocacy skills are central to this role
