Registrar are provided with a comprehensive and diverse range of training experiences.
There are runs in inpatients, rural, community, acute care and child & adolescent psychiatry.

A role where you will assess mental and physical states of patients, provide preliminary diagnoses and treatments, and contribute to the development of comprehensive mental health services across facilities whilst collaborating closely with a psychiatrist.

Training Registrars participate in the teaching programme with Wellington Regional trainees based in Porirua and are well supported by the training facilitator in every rotation in addition to your consultant psychiatrist supervisors.

A total of 9 RMOs share the afterhours.
Construction of a new purpose-built facility commend in February 2023.

The new unit will have 28 beds plus 2 rooms for those needing a short-term stay with provision for 4-8 beds to be added at a later stage.

Completed PGY2 or equivalent.
