- Permanent Training and/or Non-Training Psychiatry Registrar positions for the RMO year
- Allocations available in Wellington, Kenepuru and Hutt Valley Hospitals
- Run descriptions available when allocations are confirmed.
- The Wellington Region Psychiatry RMO positions are rotational across multiple hospitals and community settings, including Wellington, Porirua, Kapiti and Hutt Valley which means that you may rotate to these sites during your time with us. If you are successful in gaining a position, the service will do their best to accommodate the run preferences stated within your cover letter.
- RMO salaries are calculated based on relevant previous years of experience and the average weekly hours of work as set out in the relevant run description. For the current salary bands, please refer to either the Specialty Trainees of New Zealand (SToNZ) or Resident Doctors'Association (RDA) Multi-Employer Collective Agreements.

Join our fellow 615+ Resident Medical Officers employed by the 3 areas of the Wellington Region (Capital & Coast, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa Districts) to gain leading experience, medical supervision and training.
The Mental Health Addictions and Intellectual Disability (MHAID) Service provides specialist mental health and addictions services to Capital & Coast, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa districts servicing a population of close to half a million people.
The residents come from many different ethnic and cultural groups and is home to both short term residents and those who have lived in the area for generations as well as urban and rural settings.
Six month training and non-training attachments are based across the region in Porirua, Kāpiti, Wellington and Hutt Valley, in both community and hospital settings.
Our Training positions are accredited with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists for those working towards vocational registration in Psychiatry.
We are able to offer additional certificate training in most sub-specialities such as Forensic Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent, Psychiatry of Old Age, Consultation Liaison, Addiction and Adult Psychiatry.
Specialist services such as Early Intervention, Maternal Mental Health, Inpatient Rehabilitation, Intellectual Disability, Regional Adolescent Inpatient Service, Māori Mental Health, Health Pacifica and Eating Disorders also offer training and non-training rotations.
Wider opportunities within our Psychiatric training programme exist in regional centres through the lower half of the North Island of New Zealand.

- Suitable for Resident Medical Officers who will be PGY3+/F3 or above by the role commencement date.
- You will need to be a NZ or Australian citizen or resident, or have an appropriate visa to be eligible to live and work in NZ information available on the Immigration New Zealand website.
