About the role


As Data Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting the creation, implementation, and assessment national harm reduction and prevention strategies, with a particular focus on analysis of prevention initiatives.

You will ensure the accuracy of data collection, collation and coding for analysis and reporting that enables planning and supports informed decision making.

You will work collaboratively and seamlessly with others in multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, high quality and innovative work.

Your role mayhave a public facing element which includes following up information provided from the public, provide advice and assurance and obtaining feedback.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Undertake collection, collation and coding of data to enable the regular reporting and dashboards that meet requirements and are appropriate and relevant to the needs of the audience(s) for whom they are intended.
  • Manage large data sets from multiple sources and work collaboratively and seamlessly across the group and wider business to understand the availability and limitations of the data.
  • Summarise raw qualitative data to provide insights into crime prevention recommendations and advice. Use of NVIVO desirable.
  • Synthesis of material to develop documentation outlining processes for initiatives.
  • Employ excellent analytical skills to work with data, coding thematic trends according to given criteria, using internal police systems such as NIA (National Intelligence Application) and Business Objects.
  • Use statistical packages (R, Excel, PowerBI) to automate processes looking at data patterns.
  • Develop skills to respond to daily data and programme queries from districts.
  • Review information provided from the public and contact persons to clarify information, get additional information or feedback or provide prevention advice as required to support prevention initiatives.
  • Contribute towards a problemsolving approach to harm prevention, particularly 'Crime Prevention through Environmental Design' (CPTED).
  • Develop skills in problemsolving and take an evidencebased approach to crime prevention.
