Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer you will be responsible for the site plans, organising and coordinating completion of allocated packages of works at sites.

This includes the management of physical and human resources, subcontractors and direct involvement in temporary works designs, managing the safety, quality, environmental, sustainability, time and budget requirements of the allocated works packages.


What you'll get in involved in:

  • Concrete Structures, Sheet Piling, Pipe Laying and Excavations
  • Participate at site meetings and record detailed notes and/or minutes
  • Documentation and filing of all project information
  • Monitor, track and assess subcontractor, supplier and plant dockets
  • Compilation of incoming material certification records, ITPs and checklists
  • Assist with the monitoring of works to ensure that they are carried out in line with all relevant designs, specifications, methodologies
  • Assist in the preparation of safety, quality and environmental plans, including safe work method statements and construction method statements, ITPs, and purchasing plans
  • Develop and maintain site registers
  • Work with Site Supervisor & Management to update and maintain project programmes
  • Manage procurement for the materials, plant & equipment onsite
  • Assist Management with planning and engineering activities
  • Preparation of weekly reporting, progress reports & tracking

Skill and experience required:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience working on civil infrastructure projects
  • Degree qualification in engineering, construction management or equivalent
  • Technical experience and understanding of heavy civil construction and preferably tunnelling.
  • Proven experience working on large scale infrastructure/civil engineering projects
  • Proficient in MS Project and excel and preferably Aconex experience
  • Positive and proactive approach toward teamwork
  • Sound planning and organisational skills
  • Progressive thinking and robust project administration capabilities
  • Strong, clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

The Central Interceptor is a wastewater tunnel that will run between the Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant and Grey Lynn. The 14.7 kilometers-long tunnel will run between 15 and 110 metres below ground. It will cross the Manukau Harbour at about 15 metres under the seabed. Along the route and will connect to the existing wastewater network, which will divert flows and overflows into the tunnel.
All successful applicants will be required to undertake a Ministry of Justice and pre-employment drug and medical checks.
