  • JGM74527Our client is a successful, New Zealand professional services practice who provide electrical, civil and structural engineering consulting services to the power and energy industry. They undertake a wide range of interesting and challenging projects involving the design of new or upgraded HV Substation facilities and infrastructure across New Zealand.


This role is based in Wellington and is reporting to the Design Section Lead, you will manage and develop a team of talented substation detailed designers.


You will be an intermediate or senior electrical engineer who is looking to move into your first people management role.

You will have extensive experience working on HV/MV substation detailed design projects.

You will have:

  • 4+ years HV/MV Substation electrical detailed design experience.
  • Ideally both Primary & Secondary detailed design experience in a utility substation environment.
  • A proven track record in managing substation design projects.
  • A desire to lead, train and develop junior engineers.
  • Have a strong technical knowledge of typical NZ specifications, standards and codes.
  • CPEng accreditation, or on your way to achieving it.
  • Citizenship, or a suitable visa to allow you to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities include:

  • Project and design management
  • Produce highquality detailed designs that leave no questions unanswered.
  • Working with Head of Power Systems and other Power Systems Section Leads.
  • Guiding and developing our graduate and junior engineers.
  • Delivering successful project documentation and outcomes required to deadlines and budget.
