Due to internal promotions, we have Principal, Senior and Transport Planner opportunities available in our Transport Planning Team, which can be based in our Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Palmerston North, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, or Dunedin offices.

You'll be supporting and leading transport initiatives across New Zealand in partnership with local councils and other key stakeholders you will bring your transport expertise to support and lead initiatives at early concept and optioneering phases through to detailed design.

We are loking for confident self-starters, who thrive working collaboratively with diverse and varied stakeholders to achieve positive transport outcomes coupled with an innate curiosity, solution focus and learning mindset.


Depending on your experience, you'll bring:

  • A track record in transport planning in a business case context, including option development, appraisal and evaluation and stakeholder engagement
  • An understanding of the importance of integrated land use and transport planning to achieve key transport outcomes including mode shift and VKT reduction
  • Ability to understand the human story of affected communities, including the different needs, context and drivers. This includes an understanding of the diversity of those communities
  • System design experience and sound project leadership skills, including a high delivery focus and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to connect people and navigate legislative process and political drivers to deliver great outcomes for our customers
  • Sufficient knowledge, depending on level, to work independently or with support to provide planning and design advice across the organisation and externally
  • A working knowledge of business case principles to ensure proposals are evidence based, aligned and represent a compelling case for investment
  • An ability communicate project outcomes, outputs and benefits clearly and powerfully with our partners, stakeholders and community

We have an exciting array of projects in the pipeline in our transport planning team.

Whilst our teams are based geographically, we collaborate and operate as a national team with opportunities to work across the country no matter your office location.

Our projects incorporate a range of solutions including infrastructure, digital and Intelligent Transport Systems, travel behaviour change, network optimisation, travel demand management and road pricing.

Some of our key projects include mass rapid transit in our major centres, optimisation, resilience work to respond to climate adaptation plans, VKT (Vehicle Kilometres Travelled) reduction and mode shift, responding to land use changes to ensure we have integrated land use and transport planning.
