The New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS)'s mission is to keep New Zealand and New Zealanders safe and secure.

We collect and analyse intelligence in line with the Government's priorities to provide decision makers with sound national security advice.

We also provide a range of protective security services to other government agencies.


For the first time, NZSIS is excited to offer a Graduate Programme aimed at attracting recently qualified IT professionals keen to contribute to our unique mission.

Successful graduates will join NZSIS's Intelligence Directorate and gain experience working with technology that supports our lawful intercept capability, our enterprise data analysis platform and other projects to build data collection and analysis capabilities.

We work closely with Five Eyes counterparts and our graduates can expect some exposure to partner tools and capabilities in the course of their work with us.


We look for intelligent and enthusiastic IT graduates willing to develop their skills, trial novel technologies and be a part of creative solutions to challenging problems.


We are now hiring for our inaugural 2024 programme; this will suit those with strong skills and/or interest in engineering (data, telecommunications, software and/or systems), data science/analytics or data ethics/governance.


During the 12 month programme you will learn more about the intelligence profession, and use your analytical and problem solving skills across different parts of NZSIS.

Successful graduates will be able to demonstrate the following:
