What will the role involve?
We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join Tuatahi's Legal & Regulatory Team.


This role will assist the team in the delivery of legal and regulatory support to the organisation, protecting the best interests of Tuatahi and its stakeholders.

As well as providing sound legal advice, the Legal Counsel will be expected to proactively identify and deliver the right legal tools and support to assist the business to achieve its strategic outcomes.

Relationships are key, and the role will need to form effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

The role will include:

  • Supporting the business with its contract processes, providing legal advice on contract terms and issues, drafting and reviewing contracts
  • Assisting teams by providing legal input into the creation and ownership projects, processes and tools
  • Working with the Legal & Regulatory team to manage company legal compliance
  • Helping teams make informed decisions that are in line with the company's obligations at law, to its shareholders and under our key contracts with the Crown and retailers
  • Support the design, implementation and delivery of internal training to ensure staff are up to date on legal developments

What will you need to bring with you?
To be successful in this role you will be a problem solver.

Your colleagues and team will rely on you to identify, assess, and mitigate risk; this will require both critical and creative thinking as well as a passion for finding solutions.

You will be confident to ask the right questions and proactively search to fill in the blanks.

You will need to be a team player; you will be part of a small, high functioning Legal & Regulatory team, as well as an exciting and vibrant business.


You will:
- be a lawyer with 2-5 PQE (either inhouse or private practice)
- be admitted as a solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand
- have experience in corporate law and working with commercial contracts
