Te whiwhinga mahi| The Opportunity

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and Hauora Maori Service colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

The Senior Quality Improvement Advisor will be responsible for overseeing quality assurance and improvement activities across a set of funded services within a region. You will be responsible for providing assurance to the commissioning teams and the public of the quality and safety of funded services across your portfolio and work with clinicians, providers, consumers and whānau to improve health and disability support services.

You will hold a portfolio of quality assurance activities in your region, but also provide the more strategic oversight and approach to quality improvement for the Team. You will provide leadership and mentorship to other quality improvement advisors in the team in advanced quality improvement approaches.

This role is based in the Northern Region, which is made up of Northland, Waitematā, Auckland and Counties Manukau. You will need to be based in the region. Your location can be discussed at interview stage.

  • Significant senior quality assurance experience in varied environments
  • Understanding and experience within the regulatory environment in which they work.
  • Strong level of confidentiality due to the sensitivity and information handled.
  • Capability building know how.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement in a multi-faceted and demanding environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of high quality and timely quality improvement strategies and initiatives across the NGO sector (or within HSS)
  • Demonstrated experience at developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples and groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to think conceptually and anticipate the impact of decisions on long-term outcomes.
