Mō te Tūranga | About the role

As a Senior Security Engineer in the Engineering Practice, you will play a key part in the design, deployment, and maintenance of our cyber security systems, this involves looking after the day-to-day operational capabilities within the squad and investing in a number of fundamental services that underpin the technology stack at ASB. At ASB we encourage our teams to work autonomously in an agile way while actively growing their skills and expertise to continuously improve outcomes for our customers.

You'll have the opportunity to get hands-on with some interesting and complex pieces of work that integrate on an enterprise scale, all while being part of a smaller squad that makes their own decisions about how to work through prioritisation - so your voice will be heard, and your opinions valued.

We advocate for T-Shaped teams which will take you through all facets of engineering on any given day. We are looking for a mix of technical skills to support the following activities: We are looking for a mix of technical skills to support the following activities:

  • Design, implement, and support proxy, email, and DLP (Data Loss Prevention) environments, ensuring designs meet high standards of scalability, reliability, and robustness
  • Oversee design aspects to ensure a cohesive integration of new technologies and methodologies within existing systems
  • Demonstrate deep technical knowledge of infrastructure security technologies and tools, specifically around proxy, email, and DLP systems
  • Lead and contribute to continuous improvement of the squad's technical capabilities, standards, and practice
  • Dealing with multiple stakeholders and situations by considering commercial implications, standards, legislation and relevant solutions from experience and research
  • Proven ability to motivate others, getting the best out of individuals and groups through empowering autonomy and a sense of personal ownership
  • Advocating best practices for security products and technologies that the squad owns and guiding the squad on how to implement these
  • Demonstrating thought leadership through drawing on experience, analysing the present and illuminating the future to create a comprehensive, unique, and impactful view of their area of expertise
  • Mentoring and uplifting security practices in the Internet Protection space

We will value your proven initiative, problem solving abilities and leadership skills as we look for every engineer to lead from their position.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • 10+ years' experience in IT Systems
  • 5+ years' experience in infrastructure security with design, deployment, and managing proxy and email systems
  • Experience with enterprise security tools like zscaler and ProxySG
  • In-depth Networking and Security knowledge
  • Architecture and design knowledge
  • The following would be advantageous:
  • Experience across firewalling, IPS, DDOS, EPP
  • CISSP would be advantageous
