Located on the Auckland's North Shore is Te Whatu Ora Waitemata Community Mental Health and Alcohol and Drugs Service (CADS).

You will work alongside people receiving support from their services as their Employment Consultant, assisting them in gaining meaningful employment.

In this mobile role whilst offering parental leave cover, you will proactively collaborate with Waitemata Community Mental Health and Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) North Services teams and connect with various employers to assist with mutually positive employment

Your approach will be led by Individual Placement and Support (IPS), an internationally used, evidence-based approach to supported employment. Full training on this model will be provided.

We are looking for someone who has a passion for helping people experiencing and recovering from alcohol & other drug problems and are determined to see them succeed through employment focused solutions.


The successful applicant will demonstrate an empathetic and solutions focused approach, a natural ability to build enduring relationships and being able to inspire, motivate and problem solve.

You will be an independent thinker, work well autonomously and be adaptable and creative.

It will be of benefit if you have previous experience in recruitment or working in the commercial sector and/or understanding of employment processes.


You'll need:

  • Must have a Full New Zealand Driving License
  • Ideally some insight into mental health and/or wider community support services
  • Strong communication and computer skills, a 'cando' attitude and be able to demonstrate strong personal and professional boundaries
  • A Level 4 certificate in mental health support, or alcohol & drug treatment, or equivalent is desirable
