Position Overview


The Terminal & Operations Officers are a vital part of the PNAL Terminal & Facilities Team working hand in hand with the Customer Service Executives to facilitate the safe, secure, and efficient flow of passengers and visitors through the Airport and provide excellent customer service.

They are responsible for maintaining the security of the Terminal and surrounding areas, coordinating operations in the car parking areas of the Airport, and assisting in
Contractor inductions and works supervision. Consistent delivery of customer service and communication with Terminal customers and other stakeholders is critical.

Based in the former Airport Help office within the Palmerston North Airport Terminal, our
Terminal & Operations Officers work on a rotating 7-day-a-week roster that reflects the schedule of airline operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strive at all times to foster a positive image of Palmerston North Airport as the pre
- eminent provider of regional airport services and experiences in New Zealand.

  • Assist other PNAL team members to maintain aerodrome operations and protect public safety.
  • Provide highquality customer service at all times, and follow the process for dealing with difficult customers.
  • Manage vehicle flows in the PNAL car parks, taxi ranks and pickup/dropoff areas with a focus on ensuring PNAL parking regulations and bylaws are adhered to at all times.
This includes issuing infringement notices where appropriate within the Airport operated areas.

  • Provide security coverage for PNAL owned assets through a combination of CCTV surveillance, onfoot and vehicular patrols.
  • Assist the terminal and facilities team with maintaining a tidy and presentable terminal. This can include returning trolleys to trolley bays, realignment of seating and collection of rubbish.
  • Assist the PNAL Grounds Maintenance team with duties as required.
  • Undertake minor repairs and troubleshooting on the PNAL car parking system.
  • Respond to onairport emergency situations and provide operational support including first aid as per the Airport Emergency Plan.
  • Undertake contractor inductions and aviation security checks to ensure that individuals operating on PNAL's worksites hold the necessary documentation.
  • Escort PNAL team members and members of the airport community to their vehicles at the end of shifts when requested to do so.
  • Act as the building warden during fire evacuations of the PNAL terminal.
  • Build and maintain relationships with airport tenants.
  • Undertake ongoing training, including external courses outside of the normal roster rotation. These courses include firstaid training, defibrillator training any others deemed necessary.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the employer.

  • An ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an outgoing personality that enables you to interact with a diverse range of people, and to represent our airport and region in a professional manner.
  • Ability to quickly analyse problems, provide solutions and handle difficult situations with tact.
  • Ability to remain calm in a highstress emergency situation.
  • Experience operating in a highly regulated and safetycritical environment is preferred.
  • Experience working in a shiftwork environment would be an advantage.
  • Be a reliable team member displaying a high level of time management skills.
  • Be fit and healthy with an ability to provide operational support including the delivery of first aid.

$54,080.00 per year
