Experienced Quantity Surveyors - Associate Directors to Senior Associate Director

The Role
You will offer commercial and contractual expertise to a variety of organisations. Projects range from transport infrastructure, asset maintenance, and utilities through to commercial building. As a senior member of our team, you will take ownership of client relationships and manage their day-to-day needs. We typically work on the identification and management of contractual entitlements and providing expert commercial insight into cost and programme challenges.

The role would suit an individual who has spent time working for contractors delivering projects and is looking how to use their experience as they enter stage of their career. We find that people who have hands-on experience of delivering projects throughout their career are exactly what our clients need. You will enjoy the variety and challenge of working with a variety of clients and projects and being able to share your experience and add value where it counts. We will develop your expertise in handling claims and give you the right exposure to move deeper into the field of dispute resolution.

Our Requirements
You will have a desire for project excellence and be able to use your initiative to get the results we need for clients. You will enjoy the stakeholder management element of your role and possess the ability to engage with and influence people from different backgrounds and disciplines.

  • A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Accounting, Law, or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 10 years industry experience working for a construction or engineering contractor and/or specialist consultancy in this area
  • Project experience is essential
  • Excellent letter and report writing skills
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely to a non-technical audience
  • The ability to process, model and present large data sets
  • A capacity for analytical thinking and problem solving
  • An ability work with a variety of people to achieve the correct outcomes for the client or project

Ability to use construction schedules software such as P6 is preferred.

  • Using Critical Path Methodology (CPM) schedule analysis and performing forensic analysis.
  • Researching relevant construction project documentation.
  • Organizing and evaluating complex project files.
  • Preparing charts and preparing professional reports.
  • Participating in networking and business development activities.
  • Management and development of junior staff.

Professional Requirements and Technical Skills:

  • 10 years professional experience in construction/engineering with significant claims background.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering /Construction Management or related subject.
  • Experience using Primavera P6 with the ability to understand scheduling software.
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft applications (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/MS Project).
  • An analytical, problem-solving approach.
  • Capacity to work independently, manage his/her time efficiently and show initiative where necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with the ability to draw clear, concise conclusions and communicate these conclusions to a high standard.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to work freely in the US without any restrictions.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to project locations in the US.

A role in which the individual is encouraged to build upon their existing construction contacts and client base, and will have previous experience of providing cost advice within the expert advisory arena. Having been appointed as an expert previously is advantageous; but not essential.
