We are looking for a talented and motivated Intermediate Quantity Surveyor. The ideal candidate will possess an eye for construction financial management, value construction, along with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.

The salary is negotiable and dependent on experience but will be in the region of $140-160k.

Your duties will include:

  • Prepare preliminary cost estimates from sketches and statements of requirements.
  • Prepare detailed cost plans and estimates as tools for budgetary control.
  • Prepare materials lists, produce bills of quantities for tendering purposes and advise clients on tenders when received.
  • Administer construction contracts and measure and approve progress payments.
  • Monitor changes of design, assess effects on cost, and measures, values and negotiate variations to designs.
  • Advise on costs of alterations to existing buildings or structures, on various materials and construction methods, and on alternative contractual procedures and clauses.
  • Liaise with sub-contractors, prepare appropriate pricing packages and evaluate subcontract bid.
  • Prepare a statement of final account recording the actual costs of the project.
  • Manage and oversee QS team.

About you:

  • 6-8 years minimum experience in Quantity Surveying, gained in New Zealand.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Construction/Quantity Surveying.
  • Estimating experience, tender and bid management experience.
  • Knowledge of contractual obligations relating to interior fit-out and construction projects.
  • Ability to plan, monitor and control costs at all stages of a project.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, local sub-contractors, and pricing.
  • Positive approach to work, disciplined and confident communication skills.
  • Customer focused and committed to providing a high quality of service.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and be able to lead a team.
