Mō te tūnga | About the role

As a Dual Coordinator, you will perform primary functions of a Youth Justice Coordinator but while being dual warranted to include work with the Care & Protection services across Waitākere and the North Shore when required.

A key responsibility of this role is managing Family Group Conferences (FGCs) in accordance with the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 as a Youth Justice or a Care and Protection Coordinator.

To achieve this you will be working with tamariki and rangatahi, whānau and the wider community to address the underlying causes which have led to the offending of tamariki and rangatahi.


You will incorporate a mana enhancing and restorative approach within your practice and utilise the combined knowledge of community resources, networks, and opportunities.

The work you do will contribute to create an alternative offending-free future for tamariki and rangatahi.
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

To be considered for this role, you will need to be a dynamic, agile and fast paced coordinator who has a well-developed experience in front line delivery and the ability to build strong strategic relationships.


Additionally you will have:

  • Strong community youth networks with an ability to connect and build strong trusting relationships with tamariki, rangatahi, whānau and Community
  • Proven experience working with children and young people aged between 10 to 18 years
  • Ability to selfdirect and manage own workload with clear communication including strong report writing skills
  • Champion the principles of the Oranga Tamariki Māori Cultural Framework
  • Ability to uphold the principles of Te tiriti ō Waitangi and demonstrating this in practice
  • A valid and clean New Zealand's drivers' licence
  • Understanding and appreciation of crosscultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
