About the role
As a member of the Neutron Avionics Test group, you will be on the front-line of cutting-edge avionics hardware development.
You will have the unique opportunity to support the creation, test, and deployment of avionics hardware and systems for Neutron, Rocket Lab's medium lift, reusable launch vehicle capable of human spaceflight.
This includes but is not limited to flight computers, batteries, guidance, navigation, and control components leveraging mixed domain and power electronics.
Your role working with avionics hardware is critical to this mission, and the main line of defense to ensure the quality and reliability of Avionics components in a fast-paced production environment.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering field or equivalent professional experience.
- 3+ years of experience with hardware development or electronics test engineering. Familiarity with programming in a language such as C, C++, Python or Matlab.
- Proven troubleshooting skills and the ability to make recommendations based on limited data.
- Demonstrated good engineering judgement, looking at all available options to solve a problem.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast paced and demanding atmosphere.
- Firm understanding of electrical test equipment, test procedures, data acquisition systems.
- Firm understanding of instrumentation, interfaces and sensors including power supplies, oscilloscopes, serial devices, switch topologies, accelerometers, thermocouples, RTDs, and 420mA sensors.
- Understanding of designing hardware from concept through production.
- Proficiency in environmental design testing, such as vibration, shock, thermal, EMI/EMC and TVAC.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of FMEA/FMECA and knowledge of fault tree analyses.
- Experience with change management systems.
- Experience with MCAD software packages such as Solidworks, Siemens NX or other 3D CAD systems.
- Experience with harness design using software packages such as Rapidharness, Capital Essentials or a similar design toolchain.
- Experience with Circuit simulation software such as SPICE or LTSPICE.
