**About the role**

The Engineer II - Neutron Avionics Design team-member is an experienced individual contributor responsible for design of Avionics components and subsystems in support of the Neutron Launch Vehicle, ground support and test equipment.

The Engineer II role is a highly technical go-to person, and point of contact for issues, questions, and design changes for nominated projects. This role has significant technical requirements for electronic circuit design, PCB design, electromechanical design, and electronic testing for mission-critical and safety critical circuits for Rocket Lab launch vehicles, upper stage electronics, GSE and test equipment.

**Essential Skills**
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or other engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of experience with electronics hardware development including analog and high-speed digital electronics, mixed-signal circuit PCBs and distributed electronic architectures from concept through to production.
- 1+ years of experience with ECAD libraries, library configuration management and version control systems.
- Experience with ECAD software packages such as Altium Designer, PADS/Xpedition or other industrial PCB design software.
- Proficiency in electronics principles and electrical systems, including power electronics, communication systems (e.g., RS-422, SPI, Ethernet, CAN bus), signal integrity, and grounding.
- Proficiency with test equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, electronic loads, DMM's, function generators, process calibrators, serial devices.
- Proficiency with instrumentation such as accelerometers, thermocouples, RTDs, rate sensors etc.
- Demonstrated understanding of design for manufacture, manufacturing and testing principles, and manufacturing techniques for electronic components and/or electrical harnesses or systems.
- Hands-on experience soldering electronics assemblies containing through-hole and fine pitch SMT components.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast paced and demanding atmosphere.
- Excellent communication both written and verbal, including creating material for distribution to external parties.

**Desirable Skills**
- Experience designing for thermal reduction, high vibration, radiation tolerance and vacuum environments.
- Experience with low noise design and minimization of EMI/EMC impact following relevant design standards.
- Knowledge of FMEA/FMECA and knowledge of fault tree analyses.
- Experience with change management systems.
- Experience with MCAD software packages such as Solidworks, Siemens NX or other 3D CAD systems
- Experience with Circuit simulation software such as SPICE or LTSPICE
- Experience with low and high level programming languages, scripting tools, and automation (C/C++, Python preferred).
- Proficiency working in Linux work environments.
