Engineering Project Manager
Te Tūranga - The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager who will be responsible for managing product- and solution- development projects to enable business benefits for Tait and our customers.

This role will lead engineering project teams, following best practices of NPI and project management, and will coordinate activities between cross-functional engineering teams and the rest of the business (e.g.
Manufacturing, Product Management, services group, ICT, system engineering, marketing.) You will report directly to the Director of Engineering Projects.

The duties of the role will include:
Managing and overseeing the entire lifecycle of product and solution development projects, from inception to production.
Ensure timely delivery, adherence to quality standards, and fulfilment of customer needs, all while staying within budgetary constraints.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in the NZ Head Office and in regions (for example, software & hardware architects and engineers, product managers, manufacturing teams, ICT & service delivery experts, sales, and marketing teams) to ensure the seamless development and delivery of innovative products and solutions.

Encourage active dialogue between the project team and Product team.
Plan, manage and communicate project progress, risks, cost tracking and issues to stakeholders regularly.
Manage stakeholder expectations and engage them in decision making processes.
Manage project KPIs and dashboard reporting.

Risk is managed through collaboration with the project team and the stakeholders, agreeing on acceptable strategies to contain risk and deliver project outcomes.

Implement appropriate management, monitoring, and decision-making structures for all projects, including governance overview for stakeholders.
Facilitate discussions to overcome roadblocks and if necessary, manage escalation to the sponsors.
Contribute to plan future development projects for road mapping purposes.
Lead estimating and scheduling efforts for upcoming development cycles.
Guiding projects and project teams with responsibility, advocate for, and contribute to a centre of excellence for project coordination.
This involves building knowledge, facilitating continuous improvement of team practices, and ensuring critical knowledge gaps are effectively closed.

Contribute to project team formation, including the negotiation of project resources to ensure that the most appropriate resources are applied to projects.

This includes assisting with modelling of outsourcing options.

Ō pūkenga - About You
To be successful in this role, you will have an Engineering or Technology degree with relevant Business Management experience.

As well as:
Over 5 years of proven experience as a Project Manager in product or solution development, leading cross-functional, matrix-managed teams (including product managers, developers, testers, manufacturing, etc.)
More than 5 years of people leadership experience
Strong understanding of product development processes necessary for manufacturable hardware and/or software products
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing Agile business practices and values across distributed teams.
High proficiency in project management for service deliveries and development projects
Over 5 years of experience using project management tools like MS Project and Jira
Demonstrated commercial acumen and financial management skills.
Having PMI, Prince2, or tertiary business management qualification would be advantageous.
