Āu Mahi | What You Will Do

In this crucial role you will work alongside the Head of Service Experience, to lead and enable a transformation in the experience of staff and students when requiring the procurement, provisioning and deprovisioning of software and hardware.


Fostering and leading a highly engaged, customer centric team the service-obsessed Digital Asset Lifecycle Manager will effectively leverage data, measures, feedback and relationships to continuously improve the end user experience.

You will lead, through the effective use of data, the optimisation of UC's assets, identifying waste and opportunities to drive organisational efficiencies.

Further you will enable greater transparency and accountability for Digital assets across the University of Canterbury (UC), ensuring UC adheres to stated lifecycle policies for equipment as well as ensuring there security to avoid unexplained loss of assets.


You will champion the achievement of UC's sustainability goals by ensuring Digital hardware assets are disposed or gifted under agreed policies and processes.

As a Digital leader you will foster and champion a customer centric, service obsessed mindset whilst also enabling agile and lean ways of working within and amongst our teams.


Mōu | Who You Are


You will be highly experienced in IT management (preferably in the tertiary education sector) with much of this time being focused in IT service management and/or service desk delivery.

Holding a Bachelor's Degree (NZQA Level 7) or relevant work experience and be ITIL v4 Certified you will also:

  • Minimum 3+ years leading IT procurement and asset management
  • Extensive understanding of core ITIL practices e.g. Incident, Change, Problem.
  • Experience of leading an operational IT unit with multiple teams via several direct reports
  • Experience of delivering ICT services to a Service Level Agreement with an internal or external customer
  • Experience fostering and leading cultural change within teams.
  • Experience with leading performance management of team members
  • Excellent communication, group presentation and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to write and deliver succinct business proposals and plans
  • Financial literacy to forecast and manage team and departmental budgetsand forecasting
  • Solid experience operating in M365 and particularly leveraging Teams, Sharepoint Online for collaboration.
  • Effective motivational, negotiation and dispute resolution skills
  • An ongoing commitment to own professional development, including keeping uptodate with relevant industry developments and appropriate training
  • Competency in te reo Māori me ōna tikanga is an advantage.
