About the role


As a Cyber Security Specialist, you will be known as an excellent communicator, someone who has the skills to ensure our stakeholders understand threat intelligence models and security data while at the same time you can respectfully challenge people's ideas of what security looks like.

You will have experience of working with external partners to monitor, maintain and protect networks, systems and assets from malicious activity.


Responsibilities

  • Perform regular security and cyber assessments and identify potential risks to the business
  • Explain the external risk to stakeholders and manage these in line with IT governance model
  • Review any new major contracts or internal business proposals which may impact IT
  • Manage countermeasures to defend against and limit a cyberattack
  • Maintain cyber standards, controls and processes to minimise business and IT risk and ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements and standards
  • Work with external security vendors and support vendor management activities as required
  • Provide input to complex business and project requirements, with a focus on cyber security and security best practices
  • Assess current state and recommend improvements to improve cyber resilience and posture
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving information security issues and incidents
  • Prepare and write comprehensive project support documentation with supporting diagrams
  • Build risk awareness amongst staff by providing support and training

Skills and experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in IT or other relevant discipline / or comparable experience
  • Formal training in Cyber Security
  • Training in one or more of the public cloud platforms (Azure, GCS, AWS, etc.) and cloud infrastructure is preferred
  • Experience in information security and IT risk management with a solid understanding of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization, audit, and SecurebyDesign principles
  • Expert knowledge around Endpoint Protection, SIEM, Identity and Access Management, Vulnerability Management, PAM, and Network Security
  • Knowledgeable on security governance frameworks, specifically NIST, ISO2700
  • Experience with a management consultancy design methodology is desirable
