Job Description:

Reporting into the State Operations Manager the Transport Manager is responsible for daily Transport operations including Delivery and Install. This consists of the delivery and installation of appliances at customers' premises in a timely and professional manner. The Transport Manager will operate with a continual focus on Safety, Service, Cost and Team. The Transport Manager will operate and align with company values.

  • Plan, organise, and oversee transportation activities, ensuring timely delivery of goods while maintaining costeffectiveness.
  • Monitor and optimise transportation routes to minimise delivery time and fuel consumption.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., procurement, production, sales) to streamline transportation processes.
  • Supervise and guide a team of drivers, dispatchers, and logistics staff to ensure a productive and motivated workforce.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, training, and coaching to enhance employee skills and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all transportationrelated laws, regulations, and permits.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries during transportation activities.
  • Manage and maintain the company's transportation fleet, including trucks, vans, and other vehicles.
  • Schedule regular maintenance and inspections to keep the fleet in optimal condition.
  • Develop transportation budgets and monitor expenses to maintain costeffectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and implement appropriate measures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with transportation service providers, negotiating contracts, and managing service levels.
  • Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track transportation efficiency and performance.
  • Generate regular reports for management, highlighting transportation metrics and achievements.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years transport and logistics experience.
  • 5+ years experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience managing Chain of Responsibility compliance.
  • MR License (minimum).
  • Strong safety focused including safe manual handling knowledge and experience.
  • Excellent people leadership skills, with a proven track record of improving safety, productivity, costs and culture.
  • Experience managing budgets and reducing business costs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive problem solving ability.
  • Results and targets driven with a proactive, can do approach.
  • High/Intermediate level computer literacy including Google Suite, Microsoft Office and the use of large ERP/WMS/TMS systems.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Transport | Logistics | Supply Chain preferred but not essential.
  • Experience working with appliances, furniture, or large bulky items preferred but not essential.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Good multitasking skills and experience.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Has no aversion to change, and has demonstrated experience with managing change within teams they have been responsible for.
