POSITION PURPOSE AND PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
The Mechanic is responsible for ensuring servicing and repairs carried out on vehicles are completed to minimisefurther vehicle time off-road and to meet Company and Legal standards
Servicing and Repair of Vehicles

Ensure servicing and repairs carried out on vehicles meets
Company and legal standards.
Inspect/assemble machines, engines, transmissions, etc.
and rundiagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.
Conduct repairs and maintenance aiming for maximum reliability.
Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components, includingreplenish fluids and components as required.
Troubleshoot repairs and faults in a timely manner so that vehiclesdown time is minimised.
Report all faults to Maintenance Manager who may deem thevehicle to be unsafe to drive.
Ensure Service Check Sheets, Work Orders, and wheel removalforms are completed accurately and neatly.

Parts Management


Request parts to be ordered when minimum stock levels are reached or specific parts are required for a particular repair.

Store parts in designated places.
Ensure weekly stock take is accurate.
Participate in cleaning up and putting away tools at the end of each day.

Health and Safety

Take accountability for all role related Health and Safetyresponsibilities in the MTL Health and Safety Manual.
Keep your work area tidy and be aware of hazards when othersenter your area.

QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Work Qualifications/Skills

  • Proven experience as a mechanic and appropriate qualification/certification from a vocational school orcompletion of apprenticeship is preferred
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential

Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components
Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g.callipers)
Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction blueprints
A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
Very good communication skills, and able to work collaboratively with others
Good problem-solving, troubleshooting mechanical issues
Good physical strength and stamina Desirable
Preferably experience working on heavy vehicles and trailers
