Wellington, Wellington, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

There's a good chance you've heard ofthe New Zealand Infrastructure Commission, TeWaihanga. We're small (but mighty) and haven't been around long by government standards. But our job is as big as it gets, helping New Zealand get therightinfrastructure, whether it'stransport connections that get us from a to b, water and power connectionsneeded tosupport affordable homes, or schools and hospitals that support our communities.

Te Waihanga seeks to transform infrastructure for all New Zealanders. By doing so our goal is to lift the economic performance of Aotearoa and improve the wellbeing of all New Zealanders.

Just some of our achievements include developing New Zealand's first infrastructure strategy which sets a direction for decades to come, as well as ground-breaking research into the roots of the housing crisis, the efficiency of our infrastructure sector, recommendations for our health infrastructure while also maintaining a pipeline that provides insight into New Zealand's planned infrastructure projects.

This is whywe need you.

We're looking for someone to help our Operations team to undertake and advise on a range of operational activities relating to technology and information management, procurement and other financial, office management and HR activities as required.

This role will also be responsible for driving operational efficiency and effectiveness across the organisation by reviewing our existing policies, processes, and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement.

In this role, you'll have responsibilities for:

  • Overseeing the delivery of IT services and support, ensuring staff have the right tools to do their jobs effectively.
  • Management of the information system (SharePoint) to ensure the flow of accurate and reliable information within the organisation.
  • Leading the relationship and liaising with our outsourced IT services provider.
  • Leading the strategy and approach to IT asset management.
  • Supporting our Finance Manager to ensure that procurement activities and contracts are undertaken and administered efficiently and effectively and in compliance with government rules of sourcing and procurement best practice.
  • Supporting the development of organisational policies to ensure that the organisation has the right policies and processes in place, and these are reviewed regularly.
  • Identifying and creating new and better ways for the organisation to be successful, including finding opportunities to work more efficiently.

To do this you will be experienced at things like |E riro ai i a koe tēnei tūranga me whai wheako koe ki ngā tūmahi pēnei i ēnei

We are open minded about the background you might have. It might include experience in IT, procurement or finance, or you might have a background in professional services. What's most important is your mindset – we're looking for someone who loves learning new things, is great at finding new ways of doing things, can set up great systems and processes and likes to get things done.

Ideally, you have experience in one or more of these areas in an operational team setting:

  • IT and information management systems
  • Procurement
  • Finance or Law
  • Experience with continuous or process improvement methodologies including TQM
  • Highest level of written communication skills and experience in the preparation of reports and executive documentation within a government framework.

You will also have | Me whai hoki e koe

  • A growth mindset and will continually look for innovative ways to help the organisation to be successful.
  • An action orientation - taking responsibility, ownership, and action on challenges, and being accountable for results.

What's in it for you | Nōu te rourou

We offer a competitive total remuneration package for this position depending on skills and experience. We also provide:

  • a flexible by default approach to support your work-life balance
  • generous leave entitlements
  • wellbeing support including subsidised health insurance membership for open-tenure employees.
