Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington's Digital Solution's team delivers and supports IT services to a diverse student body of over 20,000 and a staff of 2,500 located over three campuses.


Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and troubleshoot and provide high quality solutions in multiplatform IT environments within an Agile (scrum) framework
  • Undertake unit and peer testing including the creation of testing scripts and/or facilities
  • Maintain and develop technical currency (by actively participating in user group, vendor and technology forums and availing themselves of other resources)
  • Contribute to Digital Solutions projects in accordance with the project methodology guidelines as outlined by the Digital Solutions Programme Management Office
  • Create documentation as required, including technical specification and deployment steps, and ensure it is maintained according to Digital Solutions standards
Ō pūmanawa - About you
Bring your technical expertise to maintain and develop our student administration systems. This role is busy, challenging, extremely rewarding and interesting for the individual with the right temperament. If you have the experience, skills, and attitude we are after, let's talk.

Your ability to communicate with other members of the team including business analysts, testers and system administrators will also be fully utilised in this role.

To be successful in this role you will need to have the following:

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong communication skills; must be able to communicate difficult technical concepts to a wide audience

Additionally, any of the following skills would be a bonus:

  • Experience with Reporting Framework Jasper Reports
  • Exposure to an Agile software development methodology
  • Exposure to source control processes and tools (e.g. SVN, JIRA,Git)
