kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

Based out of the Leamington depot, the Foreperson will lead and motivate work crews to carry out minor works activities within the Waipa District Council Maintenance contract.

You will be expected to be involved in the planning, organising, directing, and controlling activities and operations whilst working alongside the team in the field.

You will also:

• Work 'handson' to ensure tasks are completed to the satisfaction of the client and our customers
• Ensuring efficient use of materials, supplies and equipment
• Providing and organising onthejob development/training for the team and supporting general career development
• Perform other reasonable duties as directed by the Supervisor as required

In addition to responding to incidents or events during standard working hours, the Foreperson will be required to be rostered onto the after-hours incident response team.

You will be a multiskilled operator with a proven track record of supervising teams and subcontractors in a range of maintenance and construction activities

You'll couple this with:

• A Full Class 2 Drivers Licence (essential) and have operational experience delivery minor construction / maintenance related activities (WTR endorsements (and experience) essential)
• A focus and passion for keeping people and the environment safe
• Ability to deal with unexpected events/make decisions and provide direction to work teams.
• Shows willingness/provides solutions to assist with a "continual improvement" philosophy
• Great planning skills; having the ability to manage multiple activities at once is a must
• Flexibility to work weekends, night shift and regularly rostered to complete oncall / afterhours response (essential)
• Good verbal and written communication skills
