The Opportunity


We're looking for Senior Embedded Software Engineers who want to make a big impact on the development of world-leading integrated access control, intruder alarm and perimeter security solutions.

You will be integral in delivering value to critical sites with some of today's highest cyber security requirements.

As part of #TeamGallagher you will

  • Take a leading role in the design and development of our nextgeneration security products.
  • Guide other team members, taking ownership of assigned tasks and drive them to completion by overseeing the development process from start to finish.
  • Develop embedded software to run on baremetal processors and embedded Linux platforms.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers for board bringup, debugging and integration of software with hardware components.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive unit tests.
  • Participate in review of source code changes.


This is a permanent full-time role (40 hours min per week - 50 hours max per week) located in Melville, Hamilton, New Zealand.

The annual remuneration for this role is $100,000 NZD - $130,000 NZD depending on experience.

To be considered for this role, you will

  • Have a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Have 5 years demonstrated experience in commercial development.
  • Be proficient in Embedded C/C++/Linux development.
  • Have experience solving problems and clearly documenting technical designs.
  • Actively keep up with modern coding and design practices.
  • Have proven ability mentoring and enabling other team members and helping them grow.
  • Have knowledge of digital electronics and schematics.
  • Have knowledge of microprocessor architectures.
  • Be proficient in use of version control tools and process.
  • Be proficient in using debugging tools to track down problems and defects in product.
  • Have experience with automated testing, such as unit tests, automated API tests, UI automation, and other such techniques to improve the quality of software.
