We are looking for an Operations Centre Analyst to join the Information Services team.

This opportunity reports to the IS Operations Centre Manager, is a permanent full-time role and will be based in our Wellington Customhouse.


At Customs, we're always looking to ensure that the products and services we provide to our customers are delivered with mínimal interruption.

As such, Customs has a dedicated team that provides consolidated monitoring and alerting across all products as well as incident and problem management services.

These services are provided as an aggregated service on top of the capabilities that are developed and delivered by each of the individual Information Service Towers.


The primary function of this role is to provide operations analyst services to IS product teams to ensure that they can deliver the operational support that aligns within their respective product SLAs.

The main focus will be the creation of monitoring dashboards and supporting alerting services in collaboration with the IS product teams, reporting of service desk and system performance metrics, and incident and problem coordination, communication, tracking, and escalation services.


To be successful as an IS Operations Centre Analyst, the appointee requires the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Experience working with monitoring and alerting toolsets (eg Elastic, Grafana, Azure);
  • Knowledge or experience with the ITIL Framework, specifically Incident, Problem and Change Management.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge or experience with agile methodologies, Kanban etc.
  • Someone with the right attitude, someone who wants to be part of a great team, who is keen to learn and enjoys having input.
  • A good understanding of efficient IT operational reporting practices using the O365 Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
  • Experience with SQL would be advantageous.
