Assist in providing sound business, system and data analytic reports as part of Defence Logistics Command with New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF).

This role supports the Senior Business Analyst in producing a wide variety of information and reporting to support for NZ Army (Land) to allow them to remain accountable and meet business requirements.


Duties for this role will include:

  • Identifying and defining user and business requirements.
  • Liaising with internal customers to define specifications required.
  • Processing and manipulating datasets to deliver on specific requests.
  • Designing and producing reports as requested.
  • Providing information for improve process, clarify requirements, producing specifications and developing user guides.
This role can be based in either Messines Defence Centre (Trentham) or at Linton Military Camp.

Once you have undergone training and are up to speed, there is the option of partial working from home by negotiation.

The formal title for this role within NZDF is Report and Systems Analyst.

You will have an analytical mind-set, be a creative thinker and have a good technical ability, with the desire to continuously learn and develop your skills.

This role delves into a wide range of databases and information, so knowledge or experience in MS Office suite, including but not limited to VBA and ABAP would be beneficial.

Persons with demonstrated aptitude for learning skills in these areas would also be considered for this role.

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Advanced knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Previous experience working with SAP and/or related databases, and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all work.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • An understanding of NZ Army, NZDF and/or logistics would be beneficial.

The Defence Logistics Command (DLC) mission is to sustain operational excellence in order to support the NZDF and assist in delivering an Integrated Defence Force by 2025.

DLC supports the NZDF by providing logistics (maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO)), most supply chain and warehousing operations (SCWO) and shared services to the single Services and HQ Joint Forces NZ.

DLC provides logistics policy and advice internally to the NZDF and externally to NZDF's stakeholders on an All of Government (AoG) basis.

DLC is responsible for multi-national logistics policy and implementation through a series of bi-lateral and multilateral agreements and forums.

Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.

- is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
