What's the job?


You'll work in both indoor and outdoor environments providing authentic 'hands on' and interactive learning for students from Year 0 through to Year 13.

You'll deliver these programmes in various locations including Council parks, waterways, and waste sites, guiding learners through activities designed to instill core messages about the city they live in.


Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Delivering high quality education for sustainability programmes at various sites in and around Ōtautahi Christchurch
  • You'll demonstrate passion for Environmental Sustainability
  • Be involved with new programme development as well as the ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement of current programmes.
  • Building and maintaining meaningful relationships with a diverse range of new and existing customers including children and adults, fellow staff members, members of the community and teachers
  • Tailor education programmes to meet customers specific needs.

About you;

  • Passionate about te taiao, our environment, and the need to care for and enhance it
  • Advocate for youth having a strong voice in our community
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience in a similar role, with a good understanding of the various NZ curriculum
  • Experience in programme design and interactive teaching methodology
  • Experience using Education for sustainability teaching and learning guidelines
  • Ability to successfully engage with stakeholders and build strong relationships
  • Cooperate with your immediate and wider team to find solutions and achieve goals

  • Fixed Term, Part Time. 24 hours per week, 3 days of 8 hours (which must include a Monday)
  • Salary_ $ $35.86 per hour

Whilst staff working at the Christchurch City Council are not currently required to be vaccinated, applicants need to be aware that should the COVID-19 environment change, roles across the organisation will be assessed, and the requirement to be vaccinated may be reviewed.
