We have an exciting opportunity for an entry level Protective Monitoring Centre (PMC) Data Specialist (content developer) within the Protective Security Directorate of the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service.

We are seeking a talented Data Specialist to join a specialised SIEM team to identify, design, and develop business use cases and related technical content and work to improve data quality to be utilised in an analysis environment.

You will be supported by a talented team to work closely with PMC customers to turn their requirements into robust and fit-for-purpose solutions.

As part of this specialised team you will be learning new things, working on interesting and unique projects and datasets, which you will find challenging and intellectually rewarding.

Enthusiasm and tenacity will be necessary as you undertake research, design, implementation, and support of our analytical content.

We invite applicants with some of the following knowledge/experience:

  • An interest in an IT security, data science, analytical, or investigative field
  • Experience in critical analysis, data manipulation and visualisation
  • An understanding of data normalisation
  • Ability to independently identify issues and design creative technical solutions
  • An understanding of testing methodologies
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • An understanding of use case development processes
  • Some knowledge of auditing and log analysis
  • An interest in software development
  • Good communication skills with an ability to relate to a variety of people

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years.

Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.
