About the role:


You will be required to provide, as part of the theatre team, a high standard of sterilising service consisting of the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packing and sterilisation of reusable medical devices.

This specifically involves reprocessing contaminated sets of surgical instruments, accessories and other related equipment used within our operating theatres and surrounding Medical Specialist consulting rooms.


Southern Cross' Christchurch hospital has had significant upgrades and new facilities in recent years, and typically provides around 9,500 patients each year.

Facilities include digital operating theatres, an advanced 'hybrid' operating room, and systems for robotically-assisted surgery, advanced digital scanning technologies & consulting facilities.


To be successful you will need:

  • NZSSA Certificate in Sterilisation Level 4 or Certificate in Advanced Sterilising Level
  • To have a current or previous sterile services experience within the Operating Theatre
  • Have or willing to obtain a current NZSSA membership
  • Have a NCEA Level one certificate or equivalent
