The role of the Data Analyst in Sector Operations Support is to gather data from operational and financial database systems using data extraction tools and techniques to provide data extracts, information and insights.

The role involves gathering requirements from clients and stakeholders, identifying relevant data sets and working with relevant teams to utilise new data sources, analyse data to answer specific questions, and creating visualisations of data.

We're looking for a talented Data Analyst to work within Te Whatu Ora's Sector Operations team. You'll help drive business decisions by providing quality data, insights and analysis to key stakeholders. You will bring your strong time management skills with an ability to plan projects and meet tight deadlines.

This role will require someone who's passionate about data, problem-solving and telling stories derived from large, complex data sets using business intelligence and data visualisation tools.

You'll have a keen eye for detail and enjoy identifying and implementing new business processes and other strategies to improve efficiency and quality of data in order to maximise value.

You will need to have the ability to think critically, and work under pressure in a complex environment, while also having strong written and oral communication skills, along with the ability to present the data and information to a range of key stakeholders.

This role can be based anywhere across the motu, as your key stakeholders are spread across Aotearoa.

  • Experience of working within a Te Ao Māori environment and understanding Tikanga Māori, and/or experience working within a bicultural context with diverse communities and/or organisations.
  • A tertiary qualification in a statistical, mathematical, analytical or other relevant field.
  • Strong technical ability and knowledge of coding in a programming language, for example Snowflake, R, SQL, or others.
  • Ability in data visualisation and presentation.
  • Ability to use data to generate evidence and insights, including extracting, manipulating, and analysing data.
