We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to lead a small team of Data Analysts.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate that you have:

  • Proven experience in working with large and complex datasets and leading analytics projects.
  • Demonstrated programming skills including proficiency in at least some of R, SQL, SAS or Python.
  • Ability to communicate complex data clearly, concisely and in plain language.
  • The ability to lead, coach and mentor a team of data analysts.

About the role:


The purpose of the Senior Data Analyst position is to provide analytic leadership to the Health Quality Intelligence team by working with healthcare experts and internal and external stakeholders to develop meaningful measures of health quality.

This position will also provide people leadership to a team of Data Analysts.

Your responsibilities will include:

Analytic leadership: Providing day-to-day operational delivery of aspects of Te Tāhū Hauora's health quality and safety measurement including data management, data collection, collation, analysis, presentation, visualisation, and reporting.

Data governance and management: Ensure quality and integrity of datasets by following legal obligations and good data practice in the handling of large datasets.

Measurement and Evaluation: Support Te Whatu Ora districts and other stakeholders to use Te Tāhū Hauora's analytic tools.

People Management: Lead by example, motivate staff for results, and contribute to a positive and supportive team culture.

Cultural Safety: Acknowledge cultural differences by respecting spiritual beliefs, cultural practices and lifestyle choices.

Te Tāhū Hauora Health Quality and Safety Commission is a stand-alone Crown entity with a board responsible to the Minister of Health.

Te Tāhū Hauora is responsible for assisting providers, both private and public, across the whole health and disability sector to improve service safety and quality and therefore outcomes for all those who use these services in Aotearoa New Zealand.
