About the role


New Zealand Police have an advanced health, fitness, and wellbeing program for our staff, and are seeking a dynamic health and fitness professional to join our team.


As a Physical Education Officer (PEO) you will work independently leading the physical fitness, health promotion and wellness initiatives for New Zealand Police within your district.

The PEO team is made up of district PEOs spread throughout Aotearoa and fits in a wider Safer People team within NZ Police.

PEOs support Safer People's objective of keeping our people "Fit for work, fit for life" by delivering the key accountabilities below.

In this role, you will be enabling our people by enhancing their hauora. You will demonstrate a high level of professionalism, empathy, and resilience to help support people to achieve their goals.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Deliver practical physical fitness testing for employment processes
  • Set up and deliver the Physical Competency Test (PCT) for Sworn Police staff (Google "NZ Police PCT" for videos of the PCT)
  • Deliver fitness testing for recruit applicants
  • Travel within Waikato district, occasionally overnight, to deliver testing and engage with staff
  • Develop and deliver work related strength and conditioning programs
  • Promote healthy lifestyle information within the Waikato district and nationally
  • Identify risks, trends and opportunities through health and lifestyle interventions
  • Collaborate and engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Deliver Te Whare Tapa Whā to our people
  • Demonstrate Whakamana enhancing the Mana and waiora (wellbeing) of others, so that we can all be safe and feel safe.

  • A tertiary qualification in exercise science, human movement, sport science, fitness & health, physical education, or related field
  • Professional experience in exercise and health related fields in desirable
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Full drivers license (ability to drive a trailer)

Salary


This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $ $79,948 and $92,919 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
