Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Power BI Specialist to join the Strategy and Planning group on a full-time, fixed-term basis through to December 2024.

The role will be responsible for designing, building, and enhancing Power BI dashboards and reports that inform University decision-making, align with the University's analytical needs, and emphasise user experience for optimal engagement and clarity.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and enhance reports using Microsoft Power BI
  • Support the Enterprise Data Warehouse team to meet key deliverables for 2024
  • Establish appropriate design principles to ensure reports are effective, efficient, engaging, consistent, and accessible
  • Create and maintain fit-for-purpose report notes and documentation
  • Share knowledge and help upskill staff in User Experience design and the use of Power BI

You will be a motivated, UX-focused individual who can take the initiative, and produce excellent accessible reports and dashboards. To thrive in this role, you will need an excellent understanding of people and an ability to communicate complex ideas in an easily understandable manner. This role is busy, challenging, and extremely rewarding with the ability to leave a lasting impact on Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington.

You are:

  • a highly organised self-starter who can identify areas for improvement in existing reports, while also possessing the ability to build new reports from the ground up
  • able to work autonomously while contributing positively to a high-performing team
  • effective at time management and understanding how to present information to diverse audiences.

Key requirements:

  • Proven experience using reporting tools, specifically Power BI
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of User Experience Design
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Capability to pick up and become productive with presenting complex and large datasets
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as having individual responsibilities
