We are recruiting for a Breast Screen Lead Mammographer to ensure the planning and delivery of high quality, accurate and efficient imaging services to meet the needs of our patients in Canterbury and our contractual requirements.

Reporting to the Charge Mammographer you will be responsible for the advanced planning and delivery of breast screening services against pre-established targets, ensuring screening volumes are met across multiple sites, in line with the New Zealand National Screening Unit standards.

This is a dual role, and you will work as a senior mammographer within the Canterbury Breast Care (CBC) team three days per week with the remaining two days dedicated to the planning and delivery of services for the Canterbury region.

In this role we require an experienced mammographer with a postgraduate certificate in Mammography and a current annual practicing certificate, who is highly organised, with excellent relationship management skills and a passion for delivering outstanding patient care.


The key responsibilities in this role include:

  • Working in conjunction with the Operations Manager and Charge Mammographer to develop and implement a delivery plan for CBC services in line with pre-established screening targets.
  • Ensuring existing resources are maximized, with little or no disruption to service delivery.
  • Monitoring service delivery against the planned targets and optimising service delivery opportunities wherever possible including through capacity planning.
  • Maintaining regular and effective contact with Pacific Radiology Branch Managers across Canterbury to identify issues or resourcing constraints that may impact service delivery.
  • Liaising with the Charge Mammographer to resolve service delivery issues and mitigate resourcing challenges.
  • Preparing and presenting planning and resourcing reports to management.
  • Deputising for Charge Mammographer as required to cover leave.


Please note, appointment to this position will be conditional on a satisfactory Police vetting and risk assessment as per the Vulnerable Children Act.
