  • This is a permanent role
  • Full time, with minimum guaranteed 30 hours per week


 Monday
  • Friday with weekend jobs available
  • Competitive remuneration $29.66$35.00 per hour depending on experience

About the Role


You will be based in Auckland, but may also be required to work in Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Wanganui, Wellington, Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland.

This may require the need to travel away from home or relocate.

What you will do

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to understand project requirements.
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate components.
  • Perform fitting and assembly tasks, including drilling, tapping, threading, and bolting, to assemble mechanical parts and structures.
  • Conduct precision machining operations to achieve tight tolerances and surface finishes according to project specifications.
  • Inspect finished components for quality and accuracy using precision measuring instruments such as micrometres, callipers, and gauges.
  • Troubleshoot and rectify issues with machinery or components to ensure smooth workflow and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition by performing regular maintenance and calibration tasks.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to plan and prioritize work orders, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operating practices.
  • Document work activities, including measurements, specifications, and any deviations from the standard procedures.

The successful applicant will

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant and verifiable experience
  • Relevant trade qualification or certification in fitting and turning is desired but not compulsory
  • Can work unsupervised or part of a team
  • Willing to undergo preemployment screening
  • Able to complete basic paperwork when needed
  • Essential Knowledge of Health and Safety and the hazards of operating on construction sites
  • Have a positive cando attitude
  • Able to problem solve and manage time well
  • Calm, professional temperament and good communication skills
  • You must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand
