Your Role:

Working as a Fitter, you will be kept busy in our depot with the inspection, servicing and maintenance of our rolling stock fleets, predominantly Locomotives and Passenger The primary focus of this role is to carry out the various maintenance checks and repairs as set out in the Maintenance Plan to the standards required in the Mechanical Codes and Instructions, ensuring the assets reliability and availability.

Your Skills:

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be highly enthusiastic and enjoy a role that includes following procedures, fault finding, diagnosing, problem solving and fixing:

• Trade Qualified Level 4 or 5 as electrical, diesel, mechanical, automotive mechanic or similar
• Previous exposure to a heavy trade or automobile industry, machine upgrades, or experience working with locomotives, ships or similar is ideal
• Ability to evaluate and interpret hydraulic & pneumatic control diagrams, electrical schematics and enjoy fault finding and process improvement
• Knowledge of relevant Engineering specifications and sound engineering practices
• Have a full, clean Class 1 NZ driver's licence
• High level of physical fitness, team spirit and be Health and Safety focused
