Painter/Maintenance Assistant

As a Painter/ Maintenance Assistant at Hilton Auckland, your main task will be the painting and polishing work of guest rooms, public areas, and other areas within the hotel.

Next to that, you will be assisting with maintenance and engineering duties to maintain all facilities in
the best possible condition under the guidance of the leadership team.

Responsibilities


As a Painter/ Maintenance Assistant, you will support the Engineering/Maintenance Department to improve the conditions of the hotel through the painting and preventative maintenance of all hotel areas.


Specifically, it involves the following tasks:

  • Painting and or varnishing guest rooms, function rooms, offices, & corridors. Effectively Front and Back of House.
  • Maintaining all tools, equipment, and working areas in proper condition.
  • Carrying out basic repairs, filling holes, cracks, sanding and prepping.
  • Following all Health and Safety rules within the Department and the hotel.
  • Demonstrating exceptional customer service when interacting with guests.
  • Carrying out assigned tasks by management, including physical duties such as lifting and transporting furniture and other equipment, climbing ladders, working in enclosed areas and pushing trolleys.
  • Ensuring your grooming is in line with hotel policy.
  • Performing any other related duties and special projects as assigned by the Hotel/ Leadership Team.

Workplace Health and Safety
Team members will be accountable to their supervisor or manager for:

  • Working in a safe and healthy manner and encouraging the safe behaviour of their peers.
  • Taking reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others (team members, contractors, guests, members of the public) at the hotel.
  • Keeping their work area safe, clean and tidy.
  • Accepting and abiding by the intent and instruction of the WHS policy.
  • Participating in all WHS consultative meetings, emergency response rehearsals and reviews.
  • The immediate reporting (to their direct supervisor) of all hazards which may cause injury, ill health or damage and to actively participate in programs undertaken to eliminate or control such hazards to the extent to which they are authorised and/or qualified.
  • The immediate reporting of all incidents no matter how small to their direct supervisor.
  • Undertaking all training in safe work practises, system requirements, and where necessary, retraining.
  • Wearing and maintaining all personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job or work environment.
  • Cooperate with Hilton regarding any requirement that is enforced in the interests of health, safety and welfare at work.

  • Being familiar with hotel engineering equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Previous painting experience, preferably in a highend environment.
  • High attention to detail, flexible and efficient.
  • The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Fulltime flexible available (also during the weekends).
  • Being proactive in developing your individual skills.
  • Knowledge of English language in order to communicate with guests and team members.
