Our Early Childcare Education Centres - Waiapu Kids are located across eight locations in Bay of Plenty, Tairāwhiti and Hawkes Bay and offer safe, nurturing, and educational environments for children and whānau to thrive.


We are looking for a professional and energetic Early Childhood Teacher to join our experienced team at Waiapu Kids Te Hapara Whānau Aroha in Tairawhiti.

This is a fixed term position from mid May 2023 to 22 December 2023, 37.5 hours per week working Monday to Friday.

Waiapu Kids Te Hapara Whānau Aroha is a well-established community based Early Childhood Education Centre, offering high quality education and care in a safe and compassionate play based, environment catering for up to 50 tamariki aged from 4months to 5 years.

We are passionate about children and their development.

We recognise that children learn at their own pace and bring their unique culture, strengths, and interests to their play and learning and we strive to create an environment that caters for every child's needs.

We create a positive environment for teachers, children, and their whānau, working together to help children develop, grow, and thrive.


You'll be part of a close-knit team who are passionate about nurturing children's development through stimulating, fun and enriched interest-based learning.

Positive, respectful relationships with each other, our whānau, tamariki and community are important to us and integral to who we are.


You will be responsible for the day-to-day education, well-being, and health and safety of children attending our centre; ensuring provision of education and care to service standards.

You will also demonstrate a commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi and bi-cultural practice and meet the Teaching Council's required Teaching Standards.

You will have a strong values base and conduct yourself with integrity, professionalism, and care.

You will be a Registered ECE Teacher who thrives in a busy environment.

You'll be someone who enjoys creating opportunities for children to explore, experiment and problem solve, allowing them to grow to their full potential.


Your passion for children and learning will be underpinned by your natural ability to communicate and build strong nurturing relationships.

With endless amounts of energy and enthusiasm you will become a valuable team player always willing to go the extra mile.

It is essential you have an ECE or Primary qualification, have a full or provisional registration.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working in an Early Childhood Centre
  • A love and passion for working with children and their whānau
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong professional ethics
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and a commitment to excellent early childhood practice
  • The ability to build relationships and work in partnership with a variety of external and internal stakeholders including parents, families/whānau, community, Iwi, other social services, our church partners
  • A willingness to embrace the Anglican Care Waiapu values and mission
  • Proven experience in planning, assessment, evaluation, and selfreview
  • Knowledge and practice of Te Whāriki and MOE Licensing Criteria
  • Evidence of service to support salary setting
